Values of Higher Consciousness in the Economy

An exploratory American study suggests that only about 25% of the adult population has developed values that could be called those of a 'higher consciousness'. www.culturalcreatives.org

In this project, we are attempting to more precisely map these values - both on the inside and outside of organizations - and compare the results between different countries from all continents. In the process, we further aim to create a profile of people who live by these values.

Using questionnaires across large populations, this project is being conducted in cooperation with a NGO association, CIME (Citizens for an Ethical World), and the Omer DeSerres Chair of Commerce at HEC Montréal.

It seems increasingly critical to find the right balance between a global ethical vision, which projects the illusion of a world united by the same values, the same practices, the same objectives and a relativist vision which would confine ethics to particular cultures, all equally justifiable in their own context. If the program ‘Ethical Schools of Thought and Business Strategies’ aims to inventory ethics in its different forms, the program, ‘Values of Higher Consciousness in the Economy’ will show how new creative populations, in the midst of different societies, can redefine ethical practices.
